Bedroom clean-up 'may encourage furniture rearrangement'
Published: 21 July 2010
A traditional clean up of the bedroom, including a thorough overhaul of luxury bed linen, could be an opportunity to explore possible rearrangements.
Taking a traditional approach to cleaning a bedroom can provide a great opportunity to explore possible rearrangements, it has been suggested.Cleaning a room first and then examining whether it needs rearranging is the most "economical" way of redecorating a room, according to interior designer Thomas Jayne, writing on the Interior Design blog.
In addition to thoroughly washing their bed spread, cushions and other bedroom paraphernalia, homeowners are urged to use a "yearly clean" as an opportunity to make minor repairs.
Mr Jayne recommends "removing everything from a room once a year, cleaning it, repairing the paint, then going over everything that is returned to the room".
Homeowners may also be inspired to make more significant changes to a room when they give it a thorough clean.
In an article for the Seattle Times last week, interior designer Rosemary Friedmann suggested using textured wallpaper to create an intimate feeling in the bedroom.
