Drink cherry juice for better sleep

People who struggle to sleep could benefit from consuming tart cherry juice.
Drinking a glass of tart cherry juice before getting under the duvet cover could prove beneficial to those who struggle to sleep. This is according to a research project conducted at the University of Pennsylvania, University of Rochester in New York and VA Center of Canandaigua.
They gave the drink to participants both first thing in the morning and last thing at night to assess its impact on their sleeping patterns.
Over a two-week period, the participants were found to have an additional 17 minutes sleep per night than before they had taken the cherry juice.
"When consumed regularly, tart cherries may help regulate the body's natural sleep cycle and increase sleep efficiency, including decreasing the time it takes to fall asleep," said Russel J Reiter, a biomedical scientist at the University of Texas Health Science Center.
This follows Travelodge research that identified bankers and civil servants as among those who have most problems sleeping.
