Avoiding allergies around the home may require pet owners to keep their animal off luxury bed linen.

Is keeping pets off bed spreads key to reducing allergy symptoms? Keeping pets off luxury bed linen could be key to staying allergy free, it has been suggested.

Pet owners may need to stop sleeping with their pets if they want to curb their allergy symptoms, according to ABC News.

Experts told the news agency that there are obvious positives to bed-sharing with a pet for many people, but urged them to balance these against the possible downsides.

Dirt brought into the house by pets, as well as dandruff and malted hair can all contribute to people's allergies.

On the other hand, however, pets' heartbeats can often have a soothing impact and can help people to sleep more soundly.

Meanwhile, recent research carried out by scientists at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences in the US indicates that having more than one kind of pet may reduce some children's risk of developing allergies.
