The summer can often prove a difficult time to get to sleep, so thankfully an expert in the field in on hand to offer some top tips.Dr Ian Smith from Papworth Hospital in Cambridge suggested that lightweight bed linen is one of the basic changes a person can make.
He also recommended that individuals take measures to ensure they are not too sweaty before bed, so avoiding exercise after 6pm is crucial.
The sleep expert continued: "Don't take any caffeine after mid-afternoon.
"And remember that caffeine is contained not only in tea, it's also in chocolate and lots of soft drinks."
A link was recently determined by scientists in the US between the presence of migraines and disturbed sleep patterns, with the researchers saying that existing problems can be made worse by not getting enough shut-eye.
