A new device that reduces sleep apnoea could help to improve couples' sleep on their luxury bed linen.
A new nose clip designed to reduce snoring could help to improve the quality of couples' sleep on their luxury bed linen.Ventus Medical's new device, known as Provent, has been designed to reduce the impact of sleep apnoea on sufferers of the condition, with the useful side effect of cutting down on their partner's disturbance too.
The device works by only allowing the wearer to breathe in through their nose, but restricting outward exhaling through this route.
This diverts the air out through the throat and upper airways, which encourages the muscles in the lining of the throat to keep the airways open during sleep.
James Walsh, executive director of the Sleep Medicine and Research Center, said: "These data provide evidence that Provent is a treatment option for many patients who were unable to tolerate or unwilling to try continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy."
