Many parents make the mistake of selecting kids bedding and other bedroom apparel for a "moment in time".
Many parents make the mistake of choosing kids bedding for a particular moment in their infants life, it has been claimed. This "moment in time" approach is one of the "biggest mistakes" that parents can make when it comes to selecting bedding and making design decisions, according to interior designer Marsh Fillbrandt.
Speaking to the San Francisco Chronicle, she explained: "A baby is only in a crib for a limited amount of time, so our clients are looking for a design that is beautiful and safe but can also grow with the child."
She advises that any furniture finishes should be washable, to help cope with any messy cleanups, while recommending that safety be made a priority for any child's bedroom environment.
The bedroom also needs to encourage sleep in children, which is important for their overall development.
Last month, research published in the journal Psychological Science suggested that a good night's sleep is key to improving memory.
