Putting luxury bed linen onto a second-hand mattress could result in the newly purchased bedding being riddled with bed bugs.

Second-hand mattresses 'may pose bed bug problems' Many will no doubt be put off putting brand new luxury bed linen onto a second-hand mattress, after a US woman found her purchase riddled with bed bugs.

Milwaukee woman Jodi Hoffman explained how a mattress she purchased from the Salvation Army was full of bed bugs, many of which stayed on her body until she had a bath.

Speaking to Fox6Now, she explained: "I called my friend in and said 'look, I feel like something's crawling on me'.

"He didn't see anything, but then I drained the bathtub and there were bugs crawling all over the bottom of the bathtub!"

Clothing sold in a Manhattan Victoria Secret store recently came under threat from bed bugs, with the store forced to close following the invasion by the bloodsucking insects.

It comes just a week after an Abercrombie & Fitch store along the same street suffered a similar problem and was also forced to shut.
