Warm glass of milk 'won't help you sleep'
Published: 09 July 2010
Contrary to popular belief, a warm glass of milk will not improve sleep, it has been said.
People who struggle to sleep need to shun the traditional warm glass of milk before bedtime, it has been recommended.Instead, they should opt for foods that are high in the nutritional elements that help induce sleep, noted Yahoo! Health.
For example, one of the more unconventional choices is non-fat popcorn, the article said, as this will help the body induce serotonin that helps the body feel more relaxed.
Adding butter is not a wise choice, as this slows down the process of releasing these non-chemicals and digestion in general, it explained.
Sesame seeds are also great for aiding sleep, it said, as they are rich in amino acid tryptophan, which helps a person become sleepier.
This follows recent advice offered by nutrition expert Sara Stanner, who told the Daily Telegraph that anyone who cannot sleep at night needs to look at their diet in order to make improvements.
