Coastal look in bedroom is 'easily achieved'
Published: 29 June 2009
Individuals looking for a great way to make their bedroom more summery may want to consider a beach look for the space, embracing bed linen, duvet covers and pillowcases to bring out the full look, one designer recommends.
People wanting to bring the beach into their home may want to forego the stereotypical approach and embrace both turquoise and tangerine in creating the perfect atmosphere, it is suggested.Terri Sapienza, the bedding guru from the Washington Post, explained to a reader that to create a relaxing boudoir inspired by the sandy coast, a soft and light shade of turquoise should adorn the walls while tangerine or orange accents create a "great colour combo".
This should also be reflected in the duvet cover, using a tangerine and white bedding set to enhance the beachy look, she added.
In order to complete the look, Ms Sapienza recommended that more adventurous people should hang woven or bamboo shades on the windows.
Feng Shui has recently been recommended as a great ethic to follow when designing a bedroom, with the Examiner's Becca Campbell noting that bed linen ought to use pink or red and white to make the furniture more sensual and caring.
