The thing Brits miss most on holiday? Their bed
Published: 18 June 2009
It may be because of their comforter. It may be the mattress. It may even be due to a liberal investment in Egyptian cotton bed linen. Yet one thing's for sure: a lot of Brits miss their bed when on holiday elsewhere!
Sometimes, it's the little personal comforts which individuals will miss when they're away on holiday, with a new survey proving this to be the case with one item in particular.According to research by trivago.co.uk, 41 per cent of respondents named their bed as the one thing they struggled to do without, highlighting how many may have become used to personal treats such as thick comforters and smooth Egyptian cotton bed linen.
Alongside their bed, it was found that 13 per cent miss not having people who understand the English language, while a further six per cent miss their favourite TV shows.
Something which may surprise a few people is that four per cent of people managed to name English cuisine as the one thing they missed while on their travels.
Earlier this month, Knaresborough held its annual bed race, with the Yorkshire Post revealing that the Harrogate Harriers won with a time of 12 minutes and 59 seconds, coming first out of 86 teams.
