Be selective when choosing kids' pillows
Published: 03 June 2010
Children will have different demands from their pillows than adults, parents have been reminded.
It is important to take children's needs into consideration when selecting new pillows for them, the Pune Mirror has revealed. The article highlighted that young children in particular need to start off with a flat and fairly firm pillow to give support to their neck and shoulders.
However, comfort should always remain at the heart of any pillow selection, it stressed, as some adults make the mistake of buying pillows that are simply too big.
The piece suggested taking a look at how a child sleeps can give some major clues as to what pillow to choose: "If your child sleeps on his/her back, a medium firm pillow is best while a firm pillow supporting the neck is ideal if she/he sleeps on the side."
Parents were recently advised by Shelley Weiss in an article for the Toronto Sun that the summer months can often cause disruption to kids' sleep patterns as the days are longer.
