When choosing the bedding of your choice, you must know which material or fabric you want before you buy, recommends one writer, with duvet covers and bedspreads needing a bit of extra thought than many may think.

Fabric choice is 'extremely important' with bed linen If a person is buying bed linen, they should take into account the things the fabric will give them when they use it, it has been emphasised.

Amanda Mays of the Nashville Interior Design Examiner said that people should always consider durability, maintenance and comfort when selecting their preferred textile.

She continued: "Fibre content probably tells the most about what a fabric can and cannot do.

"After all, you know that a silk is not going to hold up as well as a cotton based fabric."

Ms Mays said that synthetic fibres are sometimes best if people want durability from their bed linen, noting that their colour fastness is also better in the long-run.

According to Kim Lilley of Parkhurst Design, fading is much more likely to happen with cotton upholstery and bedding fabrics, with acrylic and polyester fibres being the best at resisting the sun and washing.
