New bed 'needed for those with aches and pains'
Published: 18 March 2009
One writer has recommended that those who wake up with aches and pains should look into buying a new bed.
People who wake up with a stiff neck or sore back on a regular basis should get themselves a new bed that complements their needs, it is said. The bed is a critical part of how good a person's night's sleep will be, and many make the choice to stick with old sleeping apparatus like worn mattresses or tired bedsteads, according to Karen Stewart, writing for the Daily Record.
She claims that the average bed lasts for ten years and firmer mattresses can provide decent support, ensuring pressure is distributed evenly around the body.
A softer mattress is recommendable for those who sleep on their side, however, as it minimises pressure and tension for those who place the majority of their weight on smaller areas of the body, lowering circulation and causing more tossing and turning, Ms Stewart adds.
One material that can help someone get a good night's sleep is wool, according to Canadian company Natura.
