Bed linen task adds to '13 hours of housework done by men'
Published: 16 March 2010
According to men themselves, they are the heroes of the home and do a lot of housework, though they don't get credit, even after changing bed linen.
Men do more housework than their partners perhaps give them credit for; at least, that's what blokes believe and have told a new survey. One thousand men were questioned by Dove Men Care and many explained that their contributions to the home often go unnoticed by their wives and girlfriends, claiming they spent an average of 13 hours a week on household chores.
Notable tasks listed by men included cleaning the toilet, taking out the rubbish and changing bed linen on a regular basis.
They were quick to respond to criticism too; around half of those questioned noted that their partner was quick to sing their own praises after doing bedding or cleaning tasks.
"Our research shows that modern men are becoming more vocal about the contribution they make in the home, and the popular stereotype of men doing nothing around the house is no longer accurate," said brand manager of Dove Men Care Paul Connell.
Men changing bed linen for their partners may have to bite the bullet and choose a floral pattern; after all, a number of reports including that from The Frisky have noted that the style is very much in this season.
