Bedding hits new heights in crazy show home
Published: 16 March 2010
Sometimes, people take bedding to extremes. One clever development team has created a house that is upside down, sewing bed linen and duvet covers to beds stuck on the ceiling.
Germany has pioneered another tourist attraction that takes bedroom design to new heights - quite literally. The house, which is built in zoo grounds found in Gettorf, is completely topsy-turvy, standing on its roof and putting steel beams in the attic to support a design where all things inside it are found on the ceilings, including beds, kitchen furnishings and bathroom staples.
It was revealed that 50 separate pieces of furniture are screwed into the 'floor', including a 100lb wardrobe with a mirror, undoubtedly something people aren't too comfortable standing underneath.
The attention to detail hit a crazy limit when a needle and thread was used to keep bed linen in place, sewing the duvet cover to the mattress.
It is not the only house of its kind in the world, and certainly not Germany; after all, Trassenheide, a seaside resort on the north-east coast, got there first though is arguably less comprehensive in its design.
