Tracey shows art lovers how to make perfect patchwork bedding
Published: 17 March 2010
Patchwork quilts continue to be popular among interior designers the world over; luckily, Tracey Emin has jumped into the spotlight with her very own bed linen offering, which uses appliques to perfect the look.
Tracey Emin is not the best person to consult on how to properly make a bed, though it appears that the artist is atoning for previous bedding sins with her newest offering: a patchwork quilt. The artist has used a range of cat appliques in her most recent creation, adding the shapes to the piece to carry off a cute finish to the bedding
Curator of Quilts: 1700-2010 Sue Prichard told the Times that Ms Emin's quilt uses a fun and easy approach to decoration; something that could carry over to design-minded individuals wanting to improve shoes, bags, pillows and bed linen.
She implied that patchwork quilts will continue to be popular as they are a great representation of personality if created by the user - something that is easy to achieve.
The 1999 Turner Prize work My Bed was Tracey's major breakthough, with the artwork centring on a bedstead with dishevelled bed linen and litter everywhere; Charles Saatchi later bought the piece and had it installed in his home.
