Bedroom 'should get summer makeover'
Published: 26 May 2009
Bedrooms should be given a summer makeover to ensure they are as inviting as possible over the longer, warmer months, one writer advises.
Bed linen and duvet covers are often overlooked when it comes to redecorating, but bed lovers should not put up with old and faded bedding, it is suggested.Summer is a good time to give a bed a makeover, explains Mary Carol Garrity for Scripps Howard News Service, with soft, serene neutrals the ideal shades for a heavenly bedroom look this summer.
Bedding in tones of brown and cream in soft fabrics will make the bed welcoming, with materials such as velvet to add luxury and elegance, she advises.
Cream is a particularly good neutral colour to use in bedding as it goes with everything, the writer adds.
The Post Bulletin also advocated summer makeovers for bed linen this month, suggesting that people do away with heavy bedspreads and duvets for the time being and opt instead for lightweight linens.
