Bruni's bed linen pose up for sale
Published: 28 May 2009
With only bed linen to save her blushes, a famous photo of Carla Bruni - aka Ms Sarkozy - is to go up for sale in the German capital of Berlin, with the bedding sparing a full bout of nudity for the supermodel.
The wife of the French premier proved her worth over 15 years ago in one of her most famous shoots, though it will stand up to a real test when bidders aim to snap it up next week in Berlin.Carla Bruni, naked all but for strategically-placed bedding, was photographed in 1994 at the age of 26, with only ten prints made of the shot - and one of them will be auctioned in Germany next week.
It will be one of two Bruni-based delights, with a further auction of a nude sketch of the model being sold in Paris next month following the success of another picture of the French first lady which was bought for £60,000 last year.
The bed linen piece will be sold at the Villa Grisebach Auction on June 4th as part of the Modern and Contemporary Photographs lot.
It has the basic reserve price of 3,500 (£3,100), should you want to put money on it!
Although many scathing reports may have arisen out of jealousy, Carla caused a stir by being over-affectionate with husband Nicolas Sarkozy, grabbing the president's rump during a press event and regularly pecking him on the cheek.
