Summer should 'signal bed linen makeover'
Published: 07 May 2009
Bed linen should be the top priority when it comes to a makeover for the bedroom as summer arrives, with duvet covers and lighter, airier fabrics saluted by one bedding expert.
The change in seasons should be mirrored by bedding, according to an interior designer. In a report for the Post Bulletin, Debbie Travis stated that a bedroom should be decorated with neutral colours, such as creams and browns, which can adapt to new bed linen and duvet covers as the weather changes.
She emphasised how a change in the way the bed is dressed can be a simple yet wholly effective way of making a room over completely.
Ms Travis explained: "Strip away heavy bedspreads or duvets and replace them with lightweight linens and fabrics. Look for the exciting new florals and nature themes that are out there.
A recent poll by Sheila's Wheels showed how much people can ruin their bed, however, with over half of female respondents admitting to outright bedding sadism through the spilling or smudging of beauty products such as makeup and fake tan on their sheets.
