Choose kid's bedding with care say experts
Published: 07 May 2010
The right bedding and bed linen can make a child's nursery safe and comfortable.
Arranging the right kind of bed linen can help parents to monitor the temperature of their baby. New parents should steer clear of hot water bottles and electric blankets to ensure a sound night's sleep, advise pregnancy experts at iVillage TV.
It has also been suggested that kid's bedding for those under one year should not include pillows, quilts or duvets.
Instead, iVillage TV experts suggest using bed sheets and light blankets to keep babies warm. This is in line with the Foundation for the Study of Infant Death (FSID) recommendation that babies should sleep with their heads uncovered and should not become too hot in their cribs.
FSID has also advised parents to sleep their babies on their back, putting their feet to the foot of the cot to avoid any unnecessary risks of suffocation.
