Community donates beds to poor Pittsburgh students

Around 40 students from Pittsburgh have been given beds for the first time.
Communities in Pittsburgh have joined forces with local businesses to supply beds to some of the area's poorest students.Approximately 93 per cent of students at Pittsburgh Schaeffer K-8 in Crafton Heights are living below the poverty line, consequently not having a comfortable bed to rest in at night.
In an act of extreme charity, people from the surrounding area managed to get hold of 40 beds to make sure the students can have a good night's sleep before going to school.
Cynthia Zurchin, Pittsburgh Schaeffer K-8's principal, said many of the students were struggling to function due to a lack of sleep.
"We would have some students come in in the morning and would literally fall asleep at the breakfast table - I mean, be out cold," she revealed.
Bed linen and comforters were also supplied to the lucky recipients of the brand new beds.
Stress Management Society director Neil Shah, recently suggested that the impact of stress on sleep is largely undiagnosed throughout the UK.
