Give gadgets a miss before heading off to bed

People should avoid using gadgets such as the iPad before going to bed, scientists recommend.
People could be missing out on a good night's sleep if they use their iPad or other light-emitting gadgets before going to bed.Scientists in America revealed that these must be switched off at least two hours before getting under the duvet cover, otherwise the mind will be over-stimulated.
Reading before bed is less of a problem, the researchers found, because the light emitted from a bedside lamp is not shining directly into a person's eyes.
Neuroscience professor at Northwestern University Phyllis Zee told CNN: "I think more importantly, it could also be sufficient to affect your circadian rhythm.
"This is the clock in your brain that determines when you sleep and when you wake up."
These findings follow a similar study carried out by Alon Avidan, a neurologist and associate director of the Sleep Disorders Center at the University of California.
He also determined that the Apple iPad may have a negative impact on sleep activity.
