Good night's sleep under a duvet cover is 'crucial for health'
Published: 10 May 2010
Failing to properly settle into a deep sleep on one's luxury bed linen or underneath a duvet set may be having an impact on many Brits' mood and wellbeing.
Losing sleep despite a luxury bed spread may be having a long-term impact on our physical and emotional wellbeing, it has been claimed.Sleep should take more of a priority in people's lives, according to the Sleep Council's Jessica Alexander, who recommends curling up under a duvet cover for at least six hours per night.
She added: "Poor sleep, lack of sleep, sleep deprivation has a direct impact on our emotional and physical wellbeing in all sorts of ways.
"It's certainly been linked with problems such as diabetes, heart disease, digestive problems."
Her comments follow research published by a team of scientists from the University of Warwick and Federico II University Medical School in Italy, which suggested that those who sleep for less than six hours per night are 12 per cent more likely to die prematurely.
