Older adults enjoy better quality of sleep on their bedding than younger people, according to a new study.

Older adults sleep better Older adults appear to make the most out of their bed linen, with research showing that they have better and more restful sleeping patterns than younger people.

Sixty-five per cent of the participants in the American Academy of Sleep Medicine study benefitted from an average of 7.5 hours sleep everyday.

A large number of older people in China, many of whom were aged 100 years and older, formed the sample for this study, published in the journal Sleep, which indicated that better healthcare and financial status also played significant role in determining sleep habits.

Dr Danan Gu, of the University in Oregon, said: "Sleep problems at oldest-old ages likely arise from a variety of physiological and psychosocial factors rather than aging per se."

Blogger CouponKate, in a post on Blog and Save, advised homeowners to aim for at bed sheet with at least 250 threadcount for some much-coveted good quality sleep.
