Women take more interest in DIY
Published: 05 May 2010
Bedroom decoration has taken a serious turn, with women taking an interest in home improvement projects.
Rising numbers of single women has sparked a new era of bedroom decor and home improvements, it has been claimed.Duncan Hayes, editor at Build It Magazine, said: "Women have always traditionally been involved in decorating and we have a greater number of single occupancy households than ever before.
"Decorating is a way to make your mark and improve your home at a very affordable cost, with very apparent results."
Redecorating the bedroom can be very simple, such as putting together an interesting mix of bed linen and colourful pillowcases.
However, home improvements seem to have entered a new phase, with women taking the initiative to incorporate various do-it-yourself projects into their bedrooms.
Recently, while speaking at Esthetica, fashion expert Charty Durrant suggested that people could look to different cultures and incorporate a variety of materials to create a completely personal style.
