Think about your children when decorating your bedroom

More people are thinking about their children when decorating.

Think about your children when decorating your bedroom Since I have had children I have found that they massively influence my interior design choices.

Whether it's in my new aversion to all things white or the particular attention I pay to edges of furniture, I am always making sure that there is nothing in the house that my little ones can either ruin or hurt themselves on.

This has even extended to the decoration of my own bedroom, with my old cream carpet long gone and my duvet a rather forgiving amalgamation of pink and purple flowers that washes wonderfully.

However, I also noticed that I think about my children in other ways when I am decorating, particularly when it comes to making investments.

When buying furniture, art or accessories, I find myself wondering how long they will last and if I could pass them on to my children.

According to Susan Llewellyn, founder of the Susan Llewellyn Academy of Interior Design, I am not alone in this.

"People are looking for heirlooms, in the sense that they are trying to build up something," she said.
