Use lace for a retro feminine look
Published: 28 May 2012
Use a fabric you love to inspire a new bedroom designI love all the feminine fashions on the high street at the moment and have always had an affinity to lace, chiffon and pearls.
So when the time came to redecorate my master bedroom, I knew I wanted it to be inspired by lace.
As I have a nice, bright bedroom I know that it could handle a strong wallpaper, so I went for a grey and white flock pattern.
The grey is close to slate so is quite dark but combined with the white, it gives the impression of lace doilies – very retro.
I didn't bother to buy a new bed as I already have a stunning four poster that I invested in a few years ago.
However, I selected some stunning pure white bed linen with a strip of lace detailing and paired it with a super delicate crocheted throw.
I took the old hangings from my four poster and artfully (I hope) draped lace from the cross bars and down the posts.
A mahogany chest of drawers and big bunch of flowers were the finishing touches.
