'No need for pesticides' to get rid of bedding moths
Published: 28 November 2008
Moths can be a nightmare for bedding lovers as they can chew through anything from duvet covers to luxury items such as Egyptian cotton - but this will not happen anymore with handy natural tips from one bed linen lover.
People wanting rid of bed-biting moths from their rooms should look to natural remedies to stop the creepy-crawlies from eating their precious bed linen, it has been said.A British housewife writing for her blog the Linen Cupboard said that moths particularly enjoyed natural fibres such as wool, cotton, linen and silk - materials very popular in the bed linen world.
She continued: "It's because they eat the food proteins within these, and especially love eating the food proteins in the form of hair and skin particles that we leave behind on fabric items."
The blogger recommended the use of cedar chips, pot pourri items such as lavender and rosemary as well as dried lemon peels to ward off the mites.
Moths are celebrated each year by National Moth Night, starting in 1999 and the next event is slated for 18th-19th September 2009.
