Bedding may be best way to avoid 'unnecessary medical tests'
Published: 26 November 2009
People must ensure they are getting a comfortable night's sleep and choose the right bedding for the job, otherwise there could be unnecessary trips to their GP.
A lot of people continue to make silly or unnoticed mistakes which can inevitably lead to a trip to see the doctor, a health expert has asserted.Robert McCoppin of the Chicago Daily Herald explained that too many people are visiting their local doctor or hospital for reasons which could have been stopped in the first place, with bedding playing a major part in their continued health.
He cited the advice of Harvard Medical School regarding neck problems, which can regularly be caused by the wrong pillow or mattress.
"Avoid too high or stiff a pillow, which jams the neck and can cause pain and stiffness," the school recommends.
"On your side, use a pillow that keeps your spine straight, with a pillow that's higher under your neck than head."
Memory foam is one of the better offerings for anyone looking for a certain kind of bedding, though the material may need special bed linen to adjust alongside it.
Nasa has been attributed with the invention of memory foam, which was extensively used for a number of things during space flight.
