Bedding needed to 'avoid mattress stains'
Published: 10 November 2009
A mattress can be stained beyond recovery if a person avoids the use of bed linen, whether it is an organic cotton blend or Egyptian cotton bedding, or even a mattress protector, according to one writer.
The use of bed linen is necessary if an individual is to avoid the staining of a mattress - something which, if left for long enough, will necessitate the disposal of a hard-earned bed.Mary Beth Breckenridge, an Akron Beacon Journal home writer, took a question from a gentleman who noted his nephew's lack of bed linen when sleeping, causing the bed to become particularly dirty.
She said that while mattress makers generally recommend the use of mild soap and water applied very lightly, other options, such as dry-cleaning fluids, can wreck the materials and void any guarantees on the product.
As a result, Ms Breckenridge underlined the importance of bed linen and mattress protectors, which will both provide a more comfortable and clean sleeping environment but will also lengthen the life of the bed.
Earlier this month, the expert highlighted just how clever mattress makers are getting, stating that temperature regulation and environmentally-friendly materials are at the forefront of research.
