Director's bedding saw first kiss between leads

A director took the initiative to make the scene perfect for two prospective lead characters, making them kiss on her bed linen as part of their initiation as the leading romance in their blockbuster.
A leading director once used her own bedroom to ensure that her lead characters-to-be had the chemistry needed to make it in her film.Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, the main love interest in the Twilight saga of films, needed to have a certain level of intimacy between them - and Catherine Hardwicke, the director of the movies, told MTV's Love Bites that she had them sit on her bed linen at her glamorous home to kiss.
"This is the place where we had the first kiss from Rob and Kristen," said Catherine, pointing to her bedroom. "We did the audition to see if these two would have chemistry, to see if their kiss would be exciting and cool."
Noting that it was far from comfortable for the pair, she continued: "I'm like, 'OK, I know you guys just met and everything, but... you're really gonna kiss!'"
New Moon, the long-awaited follow-up to the debut film in the series, is to be released later this month.
Stewart and Pattinson will be reprising their roles of Bella Swan and Edward Cullen in a performance which puts a major strain on their relationship.
