Retirees 'enjoy bedding more' than working counterparts
Published: 03 November 2009
Many individuals who retire will likely get more comfort from their bedding, with a new study discovering that quitting a job can lead to a better quality of sleep.
Bedding could seem to be more comfortable for retirees, if new research is to be taken on board.A study from the University of Turku in Finland has found that a large number of people sleep easier when they've packed in their final job before chilling out for their closing years.
Scientists at the Scandinavian institute found that disturbed rest in bed was 26 per cent less likely to happen during the seven years after retirement than the ten years leading up to retirement.
Professor at the department of public health at the institution Jussi Vahtera added: "In countries and positions where there is no proper pension level to guarantee financial security beyond working age, however, retirement may be followed by severe stress disturbing sleep even more than before retirement."
At the end of last month, it was revealed by the Chinese University in Hong Kong that children who stay in bed for longer on weekends are more likely to avoid being overweight or obese.
