Russian efficiency transfers to conveyor belt bedding
Published: 13 November 2009
Turning their attentions from traditional Russian sciences such as space flight, a number of experts in the eastern kingdom have gotten together to produce... bedding on a conveyor belt.
Airports are not great places to rest unless a hotel has been booked, though many people cannot afford the luxury. Luckily, Russian science has stepped forward. The Arch Group has created the Sleep Box, a fixture aimed specifically at terminals around the world to give a bed-in-a-box which looks more like a Nintendo Wii than a regular hotel room.
And to keep the place clean and sparkling, bed linen is automatically changed via a conveyor belt-like roller system, though the extras do not stop there: each Sleep Box has an LCD display, Wi-Fi internet access, luggage space and numerous power outlets for charging mobile phones and laptops.
It looks like it has the legs to become a popular offering, unlike the Substitute Materials creation which made the headlines recently: a vertical frame, without bedding, which supports businessmen in the street if they want to nod off while casually leaning.
