People in the US are struggling to get a decent amount of rest, yet the newest poll conducted by an expert in the country has discovered that those enjoying their bed linen the least is those in West Virginia.

West Virginia tops poll for Americans with poor sleep It's West Virginia, not Seattle, where most people are being hit by sleeplessness, according to a new poll.

Lela McKnight-Eily, an epidemiologist for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention across the Atlantic, commented on a study which looked into the sleeping habits of citizens from each US state, compiling which have the best and worst qualities of rest.

And while only seven to ten per cent of respondents in the likes of Alaska, California and North Dakota reported to have poor sleep each night, a huge 19 per cent of West Virginian participants said they couldn't get comfort from their bedding for even one night in the month.

Oklahoma, Kentucky and Tennessee also returned poor results, though it's not known how much of a part weather could play in the overall responses.

Atlantic Sleep and Pulmonary Associates expert Dr Marc L Benton recently found that golfers may be struggling to do well in their sport due to undiagnosed sleep apnoea, which hits concentration hard.
