Capitol Hill gets bed offer
Published: 01 October 2008
A good-natured offer has been presented to arguing senators in Washington DC as an American bedding and memory foam specialist has extended his good wishes to sort out the country's economic troubles... with 535 beds.
An American-based bed and mattress company's chief executive officer has extended a grand offer to late-night negotiators on Washington DC's Capitol Hill, it has been reported.Mike Zippelli of Classic Sleep Products sent a letter to Nancy Pelosi, the Democratic house speaker, offering to supply senators in the Congress with 535 mattresses to help them rest it out after late-night negotiations, stopping short of offering bed linen or comforters.
The business' owner said that after he saw John McCain postponing his campaign to help figure out the problems in Wall Street, he saw that political bias was "irrelevant" and that he, like everyone else, should offer a helping hand.
"Congress should be in session 24/7 until this issue is resolved, and I'll make sure we give them tools to take some naps on the Hill, but stay in session until this problem is resolved," Mr Zippelli continued.
Doubts still remain over the proposed bail-out of Wall Street, with the House of Representatives already dismissing the $700 billion (£365 billion) rescue bid.
