Egyptian cotton 'softer and lasts longer'

One bedding expert praises luxury bed linen such as Egyptian cotton for being "far superior" to duvet sets made from other fabrics.
Luxury bed linen made from Egyptian cotton is more expensive because it is both softer and more durable, an expert states.Bedding commentator Gen Wright, of HomeCottons.co.uk, makes her comments in an article for the Shopping eZine, asserting that the fabric is "far superior" to other cottons.
"The long fibre or staple of Egyptian cotton means there is more continuous cotton fibre to use when creating threads or yarns. Egyptian cotton yarn is smaller in diameter but stronger than other cotton," she continues.
Furthermore, luxury bed linen made from the fabric can be washed a great many times without becoming pilled and scratchy, Ms Wright adds.
Earlier this month, the blogger behind online resource the Linen Cupboard urged those shopping for new duvet sets to recognise the importance of the long staples found in fabrics such as Egyptian cotton.
The commentator added that top quality bed linen had a highly luxurious feel.
