Those desiring the healthiest bedding option possible may want to invest in organic bedding, with a fabric expert handing down advice to those wanting to take care of their largest organ - the skin.
The importance of organic cotton has been highlighted by a fabric expert and expecting mother.Donielle, writing for health and eco-friendly website Raising Peanuts, said that the effort that went into producing cotton in the US required 25 per cent of all pesticides used in farming.
She added that pesticides were not only responsible for illness and fatalities in developing countries but also ruined arable land and polluted watersheds.
Furthermore, Donielle continued, organic cotton is perfect for a baby's skin, making it the best choice for bedding for little ones.
She concluded: "So not only does buying organic clothing help our own health, by keeping toxins away from our skin (which is your largest organ!) we can help keep these toxins out of our environment."
When buying baby bedding, Baby Centre said that cotton is a good option as it is easy to layer and can regulate a baby's body temperature well.
