Boudoir chic: bed linen great, baths better?
Published: 02 October 2009
One travel writer has claimed that while high-end bed linen such as Egyptian cotton sheets really are worth the money paid for them, a bedroom-based bath may be the bestt way to ramp up both style and class.
Having a bath in the bedroom may be something people should invest in if they are wanting to impress their friends, it is believed.Susan d'Arcy of the Sunday Times explained that she regularly sees both sides of deluxe offerings from high-end hotels.
She said: "I've stayed in hundreds of five-star hotel rooms and learnt both to appreciate their finer points (luxury bed linen may be pricey, but, trust me, it's worth it) and to dismiss the more gimmicky excesses."
Including a bath in the bedroom, for instance, is a trend which can destroy carpets or force major refurbishment of one end of the room, yet Ms d'Arcy believes it can add a definite attraction to a house or hotel.
Personally speaking, however, the critic said it is fun to toy with experimental design on holiday but in her own space, she favours privacy and practicality provided by a "proper" bathroom.
Carlos Peralta recently put his Trump Tower-based New York flat up for sale on Think Properties; a bedroom complete with its own jacuzzi was part of the bargain.
