Kids everywhere may be getting a little more used to their bedding should new proposals be accepted for them to have education on necessary rest.A number of health experts are calling on the government to introduce compulsory education of sleep in schools across the country.
Led by Dr Chris Idzikowski from the Edinburgh Sleep Centre, the campaign aims to teach children how important a consistently long spell under the duvet cover is and how it needs to be addressed as much as healthy food and exercise.
He explained: "We teach children about nutrition and ensure regular exercise is part of their weekly activities but the third critical ingredient of a healthy lifestyle - sleep - is barely touched upon."
It follows research which found that 62 per cent of people in London believe that education on sleep should be part of the National Curriculum, with just over eight out of ten people stating that a good rest each evening is the most important thing for a child to be at the top of their game when in school.
Last week, a plane heading from San Diego to Minneapolis overshot its destination by 150 miles, with pilots denying that comments from air traffic control had been ignored due to the pair falling asleep.
