Memory foam is 'becoming more popular'

The popularity of memory foam bedding is growing because of its responsive properties, according to a new report detailing a common misconception about the material.
Memory foam mattresses do not remember the exact shape of the body but will respond to the weight, pressure and heat of the human body, a new report has underlined.Covering the material for the San Francisco Chronicle, bedding boffin Zahid Sardar noted that many people make this common mistake and could, in turn, be causing many to back away from investment in its luxurious properties.
"Memory foam layers just return to their original shape after each use, so there are no lumps and bumps," said Michael Nermon, the founder of Ergo Customized Comfort in Orange County, California, who added: "They yield again with body heat to your shape."
Due to the properties of memory foam, it is much easier to transport as it can be vacuum-packed because of its lack of spring infrastructure, it was added.
Northwestern University and Boise State University recently discovered a way to produce less expensive memory foam from different metals, which could lead to a price drop in the material as well as a rise in its common applications.
