A Canadian newspaper has stated the important role of bed linen in the bedroom, noting that the use of bedding and duvet sets has a profound effect on stopping the bedroom becoming the "most neglected room" in a house.

'Better boudoir' hints given Writing for a Canadian newspaper, an interior designer has highlighted the best ways to turn a bedroom "from neglected to respected".

In a piece for the Ottawa Citizen, Kelly Deck stated the need for those buying bed linen to avoid buying large or demanding patterns as the bed is the biggest item of furniture in the room and dominates one's visuals.

She said: "Few things are sadder than beautiful bedding stuffed with a lumpy duvet and limp pillows.

"Choose simple, fine sheets: I prefer ivory, in natural fibres, like cotton, linen or silk."

Ms Deck also emphasised the comfort of a freshly made bed, saying that she was not allowed to leave the house as a child without making it.

Coral Nafie of About.com stated that people must consider both the lifecycle of bed linen's colours and fibres, making sure to strictly follow directions given by bedding providers.
