A fabric expert has offered tips to parents on which material to choose when buying bedding for their baby, with bed linen and comforters being recommended from a variety of textiles, each offering different strengths and washing options.

Baby bedding is 'all about washing' A blogger noted today that when buying luxury baby bedding, the parent is required to look for the material that matches their baby's need the most.

Writing for Baby Products, the writer - simply known as Fanbold - explained the differences between cotton, silk and wool.

The blogger said cotton was durable for bedding, easy to wash and breathable, whereas wool required careful washing as well as naturally being a lot warmer than many other materials available.

Silk also proved to be more difficult to wash but gave a much more luxurious feel and appearance to a baby's bed linen.

Fanbold continued: "When you purchase machine-washable luxury baby bedding or any other type of bedding, be sure you wash it before using it."

It was also noted that after washing baby bedding more, it would "become softer and even more comfortable over time."

The Economic Times of India recommended that many people took to washing linen themselves to cut down on carbon emissions.
