Boiling sheets 'keeps dust mites at bay'

Whether it is Egyptian cotton, organic cotton or memory foam bed linen a person is cuddling up in, they should regularly wash sheets in hot water to keep dust mites down, an expert states.
From Egyptian cotton to memory foambed linen, house-proud snoozers should regularly wash their bedding to keep dust mites at bay, an expert warns.Commentator Toni Hoy, writing for the Post Crescent, says it is especially important for people with allergies as mites can cause these to flare up.
"Because we spend about one-third of our time in our bedrooms, warding off allergens in the room only makes sense. Taking the offensive against dust mites is the most critical step," she urges.
Washing bed linen at high temperatures is one way to keep their numbers down, Ms Hoy adds.
Once bedding is mite free and allergy-friendly, sleepers may want to turn their attention to the colours they place in their rooms.
Terry's Fabrics recently suggested people select blue bedding as this can be both tranquil and refreshing.
