Childhood bedrooms 'returned to'

Former childhood bedrooms hardly change after a move, it has been discovered - with decor hardly changing and many even experiencing the same bedding and duvet sets as when they claimed independence from the family home after reaching adulthood.

Childhood bedrooms 'returned to' Four out of ten adults who go back to their parent's house continue to stay in their old bedroom, recent research has revealed.

A Prudential-led survey found that 46 per cent of people interviewed still believed their old room to be theirs even after moving out years ago, with 42 per cent of the bedrooms stayed in still decorated in the same way they were when they left them - sometimes including bed linen and duvet covers.

Even posters from childhood days still adorned the walls of ten per cent of respondents.

"The connection with the family home remains strong throughout our lives and our research has shown that around a third of UK adults say the home they grew up in is still lived in by their parents," said Prudential mortgage expert Keith Haggart.

Last week, it was noted by interior designer Gebrielle Fagan that design-savvy mums and dads were reflecting their children's personality through bedroom painting and bedding.
