Interior designer gives bedroom tips
Published: 24 September 2008
An interior designer has highlighted the differences couples face when choosing a decorating scheme for their bedroom, recommending the use of bed linen and coloured duvet sets to change the tone of the room on a neutral background.
Interior designer Paula Robinson has offered a number of tips to couples which hope to make the most of their bedroom. The key to an agreement, she noted, was outright compromise and highlighted the differences between boys and girls naturally - how men would never agree to frills or pastel pinks and how women are not big fans of plasma TVs and chrome.
However, Ms Robinson said that the use of a neutral colour on the walls, combined with seasonal bed linen and duvet sets, would be the perfect way to evolve a bedroom with the seasons, adding that bedding's texture is also important.
She added: "Women's skins are softer and more sensitive, so where 400-plus thread count sheets seem vital to us, men are quite happy with 50/50 blends."
Cotton Incorporated also recommended that thickness of bedsheet be taken into account, as thinner fabrics were softer but more delicate.
