Bed linen 'important in feng shui-based bedroom'
Published: 01 September 2009
Bedding, decor and bed linen are all important parts of a bedroom using feng shui to bring peace to the body and mind, according to an expert.
Feng shui can bring peace and harmony to a room so long as bedding is used well, one expert has stated. The Examiner's Lori Smith explained that the master bedroom is a "private sanctuary" and must exude good energy through bedding and paint colours if comfort is to be restored.
She explained: "Blue can be a depressing colour if there is too much of it. If you have a large space, be sure to use wood elements to warm it up, such as maple, espresso or wenge-coloured furniture."
Mirrors and technology such as televisions should be kept away from the bed under feng shui's rules as they are believed to bring an "unwanted third party" into the lives of those who inhabit the space, Ms Smith added.
Feng shui transcends the simple use of colour and positioning of furniture in Chinese society, with buildings in such cities as Hong Kong even adhering to design rules based on the ancient tradition.
