Travelodge: Bedding 'littered with discarded books'
Published: 03 September 2009
Travelodge staff are regularly finding things of interest being left behind by guests who don't seem to share the opinion, with many books found under bed linen in the budget hotel chain's rooms.
The Bible is not the only book found in a number of hotel rooms, according to the latest survey.Travelodge revealed there to be a large amount of discarded books which are often found among various pieces of bedding, with the company producing a hit parade of big titles left unloved in their temporary boudoirs.
In the Books Left Behind Index, Katie Price topped the list of tomes which people can simply do without, with the glamour model's third autobiography Pushed to the Limit coming a perhaps unsurprising first in the poll.
Barack Obama, the most powerful man in the world, was second with his autobiographical account of his heritage in Dreams from My Father.
Dear Fatty, Dawn French's offering, came third in the table.
Greg Dawson, a spokesman for Travelodge, explained: "As well as the famous names in our top ten, an influx of Mills and Boon titles have flooded our index as have English language phrase books due to many Europeans holidaying with us this year.
"Over 7,200 books have been left behind in our hotels over the last 12 months."
Travelodge launched itself in 1985 and operates 380 hotels - that's 26,000 rooms - in the UK, Ireland and Spain.
