Parents may find they do not need to splash out on many items of bed linen for their newborns.
Buying bed linen for a newborn is often a daunting task, so parents are being encouraged to take a step back and think about what they really need.An article for helium.com noted that many retailers will sell cot bedding sets, but these may not be the most cost-effective means of kitting out a baby's sleeping area.
"These sets come with items such as a crib sheet, a crib bed skirt, a blanket, a bumper, a valance," it explained.
The piece highlighted that "there is a good chance that you will not use everything in a crib bedding set", so being selective can help cut costs.
Parents were warned that the American Association of Pediatrics advises against using bumpers inside a cot, as these can often be a safety hazard.
A recent spokesperson.com article emphasised that moving from a cot to a children's bed can often be difficult for youngsters, so parents should do all they can to make the experience less daunting.
